Colorado may not be the first place that comes to mind for fine winemaking, but you may want to think again. Several areas in Colorado have perfect conditions for the cultivation of wine grapes–warm days, cool nights, and low humidity.
Winemaking in Colorado began on the Western Slope more than a century ago, however, during Prohibition the early vineyards were uprooted and replaced with orchards. Today we see more vineyards being reestablished, and the art of winemaking is once again flourishing in Colorado.
This week’s video post is called “Making Wine in Colorado” and features the small Winter Park Winery. Here is a permanent link to the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57X-GAtTbeA
I’d also like to welcome Jacob Harkins as a new contributor to our site. Jacob is the founder of Coloradowino.com and he will be sharing his reviews of Colorado Wines.
