Mission Statement
The goal of Colorado Local Sustainability is to unite farmers, ranchers, and consumers in order to stimulate the sustainable local food economy in Colorado. The Rocky Mountain Growers Directory will list Colorado farms and ranches who use sustainable methods of production, or grow organic produce, and marketers who sell locally produced food products. The directory is intended to educate the public and strengthen our local food economy by making it easy for consumers and marketers to find sustainable growers and to help sustainable growers find new markets for their products.
*****
The basic goal of The Rocky Mountain Growers Directory is to provide an easy way for consumers to find local food sources, by helping to market the products of Colorados growers. Whether looking for local food close to home, or while traveling across Colorado, the directory provides the information people need to support local growers and the marketers of local food.
A broader goal of Colorado Local Sustainability is to help move the local food, and sustainable food trends from niche to mainstream. Fresh, local food produced in a sustainable manner should be the easiest and affordable type of food for people to get. The directory is one step towards this goal. Another is to try to provide people with the information they need to better understand the importance of local, sustainably produced food. By working together, we can help transform our food systems and bring much of the food economy back home. We appreciate your support in helping to achieve this goal.
