February 2008

February 29th

We closed the print version of the 2008 Rocky Mountain Growers Directory to advertising and listings earlier this week, and are heading to press! Thank you all for your support!

While the printed directory is complete for this 1st edition, we encourage farms, ranches, and farmers’ markets to sign up for your online listing now. All new listings will be added to our web site as you sign up, and then will be included in the printed version of our 2009 directory.

Those interested in display ads should contact us now to reserve space in the 2009 directory. It is early, but we know it will fill up quickly. We’ll be offering discounted rates to all who supported us by advertising in the 2008 edition.

February 21st

We’ve added several new listings under dairy, lamb, vegetables and grain, seed & feed.

February 19th

Over the past few days we’ve added many new listings, in pretty much every category.

The printed directory is coming along, and we will be going to press in the next week or so. Thanks to everyone who is the directory and supporting this project!

Also, we are getting some excellent response from both growers and chefs on our Farm to Chef service questionaire. Your input is invaluable in helping us to create a system that will help fits the needs of sellers and buyers.

February 8th

We’ve added a new listing under vegetables.

We are closing in on the absolute deadline for the printed directory as we will be going to press in about a week. We already have a great list of farms, ranches, farmers markets and advertisers, so if you’ve been thinking of joining or advertising in our directory, now is the time to do it! Call, or email us, or use the Join form now.

We’ve added new listings under vegetables, fruit, eggs, beef, pork, and poultry. I also hope to have the directory listings fully revised to the new look… soon. Doing the web stuff, ad design, marketing, and calling folks can be a bit of a full-time job, or more. But so worth it!

I’d also like to say that the “Getting Connected” event put on by Northern Colorado Food Incubator and Local Living Economy was excellent! Tracy & I met so many wonderful people there, and were excited to hear that we have solutions for many of the issues growers and buyers brought up.

Some key points expressed:

Need on an online system for both growers food buyers.
Distribution methods
How to advertise
Need of a directory

Well, we have all of those covered except distribution, and we are working hard to help growers connect with distributors so they can easily supply local restaurants, co-ops, and other food buyers.

A huge thanks to Hill, GailMarie, and everyone else who helped with and attended the event!

February 5th

We’ve added new listings under Fruit and Grain, Feed & Seed.

We’ll be attending the “Getting Connected – A Food Producer & Buyer Regional Gathering” which is being hosted by the Northern Colorado Food Incubator in Fort Collins this Thursday, the 7th. We look forward to meeting many of you who we’ve talked with (or emailed) and to see a few familiar faces too.
