We have been very busy with this project. We have started contacting potential advertisers, and are getting some interest. We have also had people ask about sponsorship opportunites, and have now added a Sponsorship page under the Join menu. Sponsors and advertisers are the financial backbone of making the printed directory a reality.
We are happy to say that we also have added our first sponsor to that page. The Business Connection in Nederland, Colorado helped us with our last large mailing to over 500 growers, ranchers and farmer’s markets. We appreciate their support!

The new site design is coming along, and we’ve already gotten some very positive comments on it! Apart from a new look, we have added drop-down navigation menus to make it quicker & easier to get to the pages you want. We also added monthly archive pages to this news section.

Pardon the digital dust, we are looking into remodeling the site. While we like the “original” look, we do want easier navigation, and a left side bar to give us additional room for news or farm bill related alerts. The look may change back and forth until we settle on a design that works best. Feel free to contact us and let us know what you think about the new design, with drop-down navigation menus.

We are happy to say that we have added a listing under vegetables! If you have received our emails, or direct mail and have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can’t make this the definitive sustainable growers directory without your support. And we can’t help to make Colorado the leader in community supported local agriculture without your help.

We have added a section under Info called Farm Bill. This section provides links and videos containing information about our Farm Bill and how you can help. We have also added a “Download” page to the Info section. We have had several people ask for brochures about our project so they can print them and help spread the word. You can now download these brochures from our Download page.

We have added new listings under beef, and lamb. We know this is a busy time of the year, especially for vegetable & fruit growers, but it is also the perfect time to let new people know about your farms. We have a lot of meat producers joining. Now to let people know where to get a veggie side dish, or the fixin’s for a vegetarian meal!

Today I was talking with a local restaurant owner about buying local food. He totally agrees that we all need to buy our food from local sources as much as possible, and he would if he knew where to find the items his restaurant needs. What he needs available to him is The Rocky Mountain Growers Directory! Our printed and online versions of the directory will make it easy for people like him, and nearly all Colorado folk, to quickly find what growers are nearest to them. We know you are all at a busy time of the year right now, but take a moment to sign up to be in the directory. It will help grow your business, to help consumers find fresh, local food, and help to build a strong local food movement in Colorado.

We are working hard at improving our web site, both for viewing ease and for improved search rankings. We’ve also added an additional bit of security to stop spammers from getting the emails of those listed in our directory.
